Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Depending on your location, on the first day of the 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari, you will be picked up from your hotel or upon arrival at Entebbe Airport. Our driver guide will brief you about the safari and then transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch, stopovers to take pictures, stretch your legs and enjoy impressive views of the beautiful scenery, the Rwenzori mountain ranges, Lake George, crater lakes, tea plantations many others. Upon arrival in Kibale Forest National Park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Isunga lodge, Kibale Forest Camp, Turaco Treetops, or Kyaninga Lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer you to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. During the trek, you will be able to view other primate species such as red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-checked baboons, and view different bird species, tree species, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an amazing opportunity to watch their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play, fight, mate, rest, take photos and record the moments to show people back home after the safari. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will meet up with your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will head for an afternoon swamp walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary where you will enjoy great views of different bird species such as the great blue turaco, hornbills, weavers, view primate species like blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, view different plant species, colorful butterflies, if you are lucky you will be able to view mammals like bush pigs, bushbucks, mongoose among others. After the swamp walk, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the third day of the 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari, after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch on the way. After lunch, you will continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and upon arrival, you will check into your booked lodge for dinner and an overnight at Buhoma lodge (Luxury), Buhoma Haven lodge, or Karungi Camp..

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will carry a packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during the trek. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the jungle, which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on where the gorillas are found, because they like to move from place to place in search of food. As you trek, you will be able to view other primate species like l’hoest monkeys, view a variety of forest birds, and different plant species, among others. On finding them, you will be given one hour to watch their amazing behaviors, habits, feeding, survival in the forest, take photographs, and video capture, among others.

After the one hour with the gorillas, you will either return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation or go for an optional cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the ancient people ‘’Batwa’’, learn about their culture, way of living, enjoy their traditional performances, many more. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to depart back to Kampala. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator to take photos and buy souvenirs. From the Equator, you will continue to Kampala, arriving in the evening. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or dropped off at any place of your choice.
