Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Semliki National Park.

On the first day of your 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Semliki Safari, you will be picked up by our driver guide at Entebbe airport or your hotel, who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Semliki National Park. The reserve found north of Fort Portal town in the west of the country is one of the richest areas for both flora and fauna in Africa, an extension of the Ituri forest on the base of the northern Rwenzori and close to Lake Albert. Upon arrival, you check into your lodge and then visit Sempaya hot springs, which are the main attraction of Semiliki National Park. These hot springs are the largest in Uganda, divided into female and male. However, they both have a geyser that shoots up from 8-meter holes with a high temperature of up to 100 degrees Celsius. The strength and hotness of the springs are gorgeous, as you can experience boiling eggs in a few minutes and be ready to eat. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale.

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Semliki Safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to embark on a morning game drive in one of Uganda’s oldest reserves, where a tropical rainforest, where you will be able to spot a variety of birdlife and mammals such as larger savannah elephants, kobs, warthogs, waterbuck, buffalos and many types of monkeys. After the game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch, check out, and start your journey to Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park

After your breakfast, connect to the park headquarters with your trekking gear and water. You will meet with other trekkers and gather for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations. Thereafter, in a group of 12 people and ranger guides/researchers, we set off for Chimpanzee tracking. The search may take 2-5 hours, depending on their location. The chimpanzees in Kibale are quite easy to locate, and on finding them, you will be given an hour to spend with them.

After lunch, drive to Bigodi wetland for a walking safari experience of primates and bird species. It takes about 2-3 hours walking in a wetland, and if you’re a birder, expect to view various bird species. You will view other primates like the Colobus monkeys, Red vervet monkeys, and many more. After, drive back to your booked lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight at Isunga lodge, Kibale Forest Camp, Turaco Treetops, Kyaninga Lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon boat cruise

On the fourth day of your 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Semliki Safari, you will visit to the Ndali crater region and the vanilla factory, thereafter drive to drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park sightseeing and game viewing, named after the British monarch in memory of her visit to Uganda and the area, the park is nestled between two lakes, George and Edward with the kazinga channel joining the two, its lush savannah offers prime grazing ground for the buffalo, elephants and various antelope, host over 600 bird species, on a clear day their chances of viewing the mountains of the moon the Ruwenzori and its snow peak.

After lunch, drive down to the jetty for the boat cruise on the famed Kazinga Channel, where you get to see schools of hippos. The Channel has the highest concentration of hippos in Africa. It is also the place for birders/twitchers to enjoy most, as you will find hundreds and hundreds of birds on the shore, you can easily identify over 40 species while on the boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Hippos and Birds are plenty here, but so are crocodiles, monitor lizards, elephant herds, buffalo, antelopes, and during the late afternoon, you might see a predator coming to water.

Day 5: Drive through Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

On day 5 of your 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Semliki Safari, after an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which is home to half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, providing the best trekking experiences. The total population is estimated to be about seven hundred eighty living in the Virunga, volcanoes, and Bwindi. Before journeying to Bwindi, we shall do a game drive in Ishasha to look for the tree-climbing lions, with a lunch stop, and late arrival in Bwindi.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast on day 6 of your 7 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Semliki Safari, you will be served a packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing about the rules, regulations, and expectations.

After the briefing, you will start trekking in the jungle, which takes 30 minutes to 7 hours, passing through the thick forest where you will be able to view other primates, bird species, plant species many more. Once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you a great chance to learn more about their lifestyle, habits, behaviors, take photos, and record the unforgettable moments.

After the one-hour experience with the gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to go for an optional cultural tour where you expect to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their unique culture, way of living, enjoy their traditional performances many more. Day 7: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of the safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. Upon arrival in Kampala, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of your choice.
