Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.

Depending on your location in Kampala or Entebbe, our safari driver-guide will pick you up, brief you about the safari, talk to you about the dos and don’ts in Murchison Falls National Park, and then begin the long drive to the Murchison Falls National Park, which takes a 6-7 hour drive. You will have lunch in Masindi and also make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will get a chance to track rhinos on foot. This sanctuary, which is home to the rhinos, one of the Big Five animals, was established in 2005 to restore the rhino species, which had become totally extinct in the country. You will later transfer to the park, where you will check into your accommodation for dinner and an overnight at Red Chili Rest Camp, Sambia lodge, Murchison Falls Bamboo Village, or Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Game drive, launch cruise, hike to the top of the falls.

On day 2 of the 3 Days Ziwa, Murchison Falls, and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari, after an amazing early breakfast, you will head out for an early morning game drive to see the various wildlife as you explore the various habitats. Some of the animals you will spot include elephants, hyenas, lions, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, and giraffes, among others, before returning to the lodge to freshen up and have lunch. After lunch, you will head out on a 2-hour launch cruise of the River Nile to the bottom of the waterfalls, which you will be able to see in their full might. You will encounter various wildlife along the river banks, such as the giant Nile crocodiles, large numbers of hippos, birds, and elephants, among others. There will also be an option to take a hike to the top of the waterfalls, where you will get a chance to see the waterfall from another viewpoint. The walk, which takes about 45 minutes, will give you a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the unique vegetation. Later, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest and return to Kampala

After an early breakfast on the last day of the safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to head for a chimpanzee trekking briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest takes which lasts about 2 hours to 4 hours, depending on your location in the forest. During trekking, you will be able to watch different bird species, plant and tree species, and other primates, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend an hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them breastfeed, feed, play, and take nice photos for your future remembrance.

After the one-hour chimpanzees trekking experience, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey back to Kampala with an en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at any place of your choice.
